International delegates travelling to Australia MUST obtain either a visa or an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) to enter the country.

Most nationalities will be eligible to apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority). Australia’s ETA is equivalent to a visa, however it does not require a stamp or label in your passport and there is no need for you to visit an Australian diplomatic office to submit an application. There are two different types of ETA (Business Entrant):

ETA (Business Entrant – Short Validity) subclass 977
ETA (Business Entrant – Long Validity) subclass 956

Applications for ETA (Business Entrant – Short Validity) subclass 977 can be submitted online and through travel agents or airlines.

In most cases an online application of your ETA will be approved in less then 30 seconds however the visa process can take up to 3 months so it is advisable ensure you organise your travel documentation well in advance of your intended travel to Australia.

Some nationalities will require to apply for a visa, for example visa 456. However, there are a number of visa options for business people which allow a business visit to Australia for up to 3 months, so please choose the one that applies to your travel plans.

Both visas allow for some tourism activities to be undertaken during your stay in Australia.

More imformation on travelling to Australia is available from your local Australian Embassy/Consulate and the Australian Department of Immigration.
